Steroids and supplements can seem attractive when an athlete wants to get bigger, wants more stamina, or just wants to outperform another athlete. Unfortunately most steroids and supplements give you more than increased stamina, and the ability to outperform other athletes and you should be aware of what they can do to your body.
Many steroids and supplements can lead to psychological and physical issues, as well as having you banned from your sport of choice if you get caught taking banned steroids and supplements. Their positive effects are short lived but their negative side effects may create permanent changes in your life. In short, it’s best to just stay away from steroids and supplements.
Personal Side Effects of Steroids and Supplements
Many people that take steroids and supplements see an increase in their performance, but a decrease in the ability to concentrate on every day tasks at work or school. Others find that they are prone to rages or extreme irritability over things that would normally not cause them any stress. Misuse of steroids and supplements may also cause issues with the chemicals and hormones in your body leading to heart, brain, kidney, and liver problems that can cause serious issues as well as death. Other users of steroids and supplements suffer from the inability to perform sexually, which can seriously affect relationships as well as self-esteem. Overview of the supplement industry
The supplement industry is big business due to the fact there is a great number of people wanting to build muscle fast. Am I the only person who sees how quickly athletes jump from the miracle supplements of one manufacturer to another because they were offered a bigger endorsement cheque? I get tired of reading the magazines every month and seeing how a guy who 6 months ago claimed to put on 15 lbs of rock hard muscle on company X products and has now seen the light and switched to company Y products. Endorsements are paid and obviously the company with the deepest pockets gets their choice of endorsers. How can any company expect the public to believe their advertising when there is such a great turnover in endorsers?
Even worse than that, the companies that seem to have an unlimited list of endorsers. If you closely look at the supplement industry, the majority of these endorsers are not highly competitive in the professional ranks or amateurs. These individuals are probably unable to get sponsorship from any other companies, so they settle for a pittance just to get paid. It creates a seemingly endless battalion of endorsers, aka also-rans. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see this.
The bottom line is this. Supplement companies need to boost their integrity level. No more bullshit ads, no more bullshit endorsements, and no more bullshit testimonials. When all of that has been accomplished let's take a look at their respect of the past and future of this industry. Let's not forget that if it weren't for the athletes, these companies would not have a market, or a vehicle to get to that market. In recent years, these companies have branched out into the mainstream, pulling athletes from other sports, and that is to be expected. No one is saying that the supplement companies shouldn't be successful, but I think it would be a step in right direction if integrity were more important.
